Earth"s Quilt - A Poem

Time to make the earth's quilt.

Yellow, orange and red leaves

Come together in random patterns,

Warming the earth

Through winter's cold,

Covering seeds that rest,

Waiting for the time to

Burst forth with pastel colors --

A sweet sight after winter's grays.

Rest, earth, rest under the quilt

You provide for yourself.

  1. It's like a lullaby for the earth. Or Earth. A sweet way to view autumn, as a self-made quilt spread out for a long sleep.

  2. I often use the leaves that fall in autumn as a protective layer over my garden. Maybe I'll whisper these words to the earth as I do this year. Just beautiful, Jacquie!
